For 16 years, Kevin
Baker has been in bi-vocational ministry and involved in the Faith
at Work movement as a church planter and
business manager. In 2005 God
gave him direction to begin preparing to use his pastor/businessman
experience to train others for ministry in the "9-5" Window of faith
at work.
The journey began by completing an M.B.A. in Marketing at the
Regent University School of Business.
In addition to serving as founding Pastor/Rector of St. Patrick's, he is currently
preparing to teach part time in a college as an Adjunct Professor.
God has given Kevin a
vision of transforming the Buffalo area economy through a
faith-based education initiative called the
Buffalo School of Professional Studies. By
training Christians who do not feel called to go to college to have graduate level knowledge and tools, our
aim is to see local believers rise to places of influence and
leadership in the local business community. This combined with
faith and God's covenant blessings is the starting point for
launching what we are calling The Nehemiah
Initiative.
Like Nehemiah in the
Bible, our call as Christians is to "rebuild the walls," or the
foundations of our region's security by: 1.) Worldview training, 2.)
Educational transformation, and 3.) Organization of God's human
resources in a strategic consortium to begin rebuilding western New
York one brick at a time.
Through best
practices, case studies, and experiential learning we are training
local business owners, employees, and students in our vision:
Vision
"To honor God
and transform the western New York economy by
developing extraordinarily competent, entrepreneurial people who
lead with excellence, integrity, and innovation, guided in all
things by Jesus Christ."
Faith@Work.God
The marketplace ministry of St. Patrick's Church is a
monthly dinner meeting equipping workplace believers in strategic
best practices to transform your life and workplace--God is at work!
Buffalo School of Professional Studies
is in development to be an ongoing adult professional education initiative focusing in Bible, management, finance, marketing,
and leadership training within a Christian worldview. If you
have higher educational training in business, economics, accounting,
organizational management, or leadership studies please
contact Kevin Baker.
Overall
Mission
Our mission is to
provide graduate level training in Bible, management, leadership,
finance, and marketing to
those who have not had the opportunity to attend undergraduate or
graduate degree programs in an ongoing adult education environment.
Students receive
Christ centered education in a church based study center at the
price of local ongoing adult education programs. This is a fraction
of the price you would pay for these graduate level courses. We also
have plans to offer personal finance training in budgeting,
insurance, investing, and debt reduction. As other
professionals join us, we plan to offer training in more
professional studies.
Kevin Baker is a
entrepreneurial pastor, bivocational church planter with over 15
years experience in business management and home missions. He
has been a conference
speaker, consultant, and is an aspiring professor. His MBA was
earned at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. He is Director of
Finance and Marketing for Monks' Bread, a regional bakery operated
by Trappist Monks of the Roman Catholic Church at the Abbey of the
Genesee.
